Looking for a Great Domain?

Where do you find amazing domains for sale? There are a couple different auctions and at any one time I am sure hundreds if not thousands. But what about those such as tie.com or acting.com? I mention those because they are available right now but only for about 14 hours more after the posting of this article at Great Domains. You can see them all by using this link here.

Acting.com, as of the writing of this post, is up to $33,000 USD. You can find many other domains available and if you are in the market you may want to check back often.

Domain Reminder

As it is almost June, mid-year, I suggest you check with your domain registrar to assure you have not forgotten to renew any of your domains. This is actually a practice you should employ monthly. You do not want to forget to renew your domains. There are a couple options to relieve you of this monthly chore.

Renew for a Number of Years
First you can renew domains for more than 1 year. This would relieve you of having to renew yearly. Of course if you have many domains this could be very costly, here are two more options.

Auto Renew Feature
Here are step by step instructions to setup the auto-renew feature using GoDaddy. By using auto-renew you can set up an automatic payment so your domains will be renewed automatically. Most registrars have multiple payment options such as either credit card, paypal or others. You can use one of these godaddy coupons when renewing.

Consolidate Domains
Yet another option is to consolidate your domains. You can consolidate the month and day that each domain is to renew. By doing this you would only need to renew your domains all at one time each year. Here are instructions to consolidate your domains so they expire at the same time if you use Go Daddy.

Domain Parking Test

Earlier I wrote about how the domain parking with Sedo worked. However, you may Park Domains with GoDaddy or Park Domains with Sedo. In case you do use GoDaddy here is a coupon to use.

I chose to test with Sedo and have parked 47 domains with them, as they are free. When setting up the service you choose keywords, related to your domain, and categories. After half of a month I have domains earning only pennies and others close to $1. The basic analysis would say that if you can receive greater than $1 a month or $12 a year, then it makes sense to renew at any amount smaller than $12. Others that are not profitable you may want to let lapse or put up for sale.

However, another benefit of parking domains is to determine which of your parked domains receive the most traffic and click throughs. You are able to see not only the number of unique visits to your domain but also the click through rate of the advertisements placed on the domain. This information could be used when determining whether to develop the domain into a property. I clearly have some domains with much greater trafic than others and higher click through rates.

Domain parking may be more profitable if you have obtained domains that were once properties and have links to them already developed, or as some have done – create misspellings of other popular terms (it is not suggested you do this as it may be problematic).

To conclude the first follow up to this test, I have determined some domains I will let lapse, others I will continue to park with Sedo and a couple I will attempt to develop into properties as they have decent traffic and click through rates on content and advertisements related to the domain and the category I assigned to it.

I did not choose GoDaddy simply because GoDaddy charges you to join their program while Sedo is free. The GoDaddy basic plan allows you to earn 60% of the advertising revenue on your parked domains. The cost is:

  • 1 month: Just $3.99/mo
  • 12 months: Just $3.59/mo Save 10%!
  • 24 months: Just $3.19/mo Save 20%!

The GoDaddy Premium Plan allows you to earn 80% of the advertising revenue on your parked domains and includes other services. The cost is:

  • 1 month: Just $9.99/mo
  • 12 months: Just $8.99/mo Save 10%!
  • 24 months: Just $7.99/mo Save 20%!

Domain Parking with GoDaddy

GoDaddy provides a domain parking service.

A domain parking service provides the webpage that appears when a user visits your domain. Advertising is placed on the webpage and shared between you and the parking service. GoDaddy charges a fee, others are free, however you may make more with GoDaddy, therefore trying more than one domain parking service is not a bad idea.

Automated Content for Parked Domains to Make More Money

Many individuals realized that after paying for a domain they were not using they certainly did not want to pay hosting fees. Therefore they parked their domain, typically at the registrar where they bought the domain. The hosts website would then typically have an advertisement for the host and possibly a link to inquire about buying the domain from you. There is no real benefit in this scenario other than the lack of hosting fees.

Next, some services and registrars began to offer a revenue share wherein you could park the domain with them and they would place advertisements. They would then share the revenue with you. You may make some money, however all the pages they have look and feel the same and lend very little value to anyone.

I have found a service that solves many problems. Here are the benefits:

  • 1. You keep all the revenue, you do not share with the parking service
  • 2. You pay a one time flat fee of $99.95
  • 3. Content is created automatically based on keywords you choose
  • 4. You can host up to 100 domains for that one time fee, much cheaper than hosting
