Comscore September Search Engine Rankings

Comscore releases reports on multiple topics. One such topic are the search engine rankings. Would you believe that Americans conducted a total of 19.3 billion searches in September of 2011 across the top 5 search engines? They did, and to compare it was 1% lower than August 2011.

comscoreComscore looks at five search engines. These are Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask and AOL. The break down is google with 65.4% of search, Yahoo with 17.2%, MSN with 13.4%, Ask with 2.6% and AOL with 1.4%. It is amazing that Google continues to dominate 2/3′s of the market.

No More Google Labs?

Have you ever taken a look at Google Labs? Well you better now before it’s gone. Google announced they are going to wind down Google Labs. It is as if their R&D department has put all of their projects out in the open. In fact they have put their projects out in the open, we will never know if it was all of them but it they are incredible.

google labsThey have over 50 projects. No two are alike and each one is unique. From 3D models of the human body to Art projects allowing you to view and enjoy art as if you are in the museum. There are too many to list but many very helpful in a variety of ways such as tools to help you speed up your website delivery. As you can see, no two are alike. Google did state that some of the various lab projects will continue their development however it will be within each product area as opposed to individual projects.

US Presidents on a Google Map

Google created a visual of the U.S. Presidents within Google earth. Not only does it show all 44 U.S. Presidents and their birthplace but also a 3D map of the White House. My kids will love this, what a great way to learn about the Presidents. Also, if you have not used Google Earth you will be amazed by the 3D White House. You can rotate around the White House and zoom in as well as out.

The numbers are in Millions, starting with 1 Billion on November 29, 2010. Unbelievable. Six of the top ten days are in 2010. This is as of the writing of this article December 14, 2010 and the year is not over yet.

Number 10 was Monday, Dec. 10, 2007 (Green Monday) with $881 MM. This dropped off the list on Monday December 13th, 2010. Ironically the day that pushed it off the list was another Green Monday which made the number 2 spot with $954 Million. Online ecommerce is through the roof.
