GoDaddy Hosting Platforms

Did you know that GoDaddy is much more than a registrar. Not only are they the largest domain registrar but their hosting solutions are many. They have shared hosting, which is what most companies have. Dedicated servers are also an option. However Go Daddy also has the latest technology such as their 4GH platform and cloud servers. More below on both, but first be sure to grab a godaddy hosting coupon for 20% off.

4GH Platform
go daddy 4gh platformThis is what GoDaddy hosting calls their 4th Generation Hosting platform. They address reliability, security and performance.

Reliability
If you have your website sitting on one server, or a piece of a server, and that server has issues then your site could be unavailable. In that case the host is unreliable. GoDaddy tackles that with a multi-server environment such that your site is mirrored across multiple servers. This is not a new idea however typically not available at their price point. I have done that in the past but with my own servers, in my own rack at a data center. Which is obviously much more time consuming and expensive. The beauty of their system is that you do nothing, they replicate the site across multiple servers for you.

Security
GoDaddy provides a 24/7 365 day a year site monitoring service. This is included in their 4GH plan. Also know that they block an average of 3.3 million attacks across sites hosted with them everyday. They obviously have experience.

Performance
Performance is affected by load balancing. As an example let’s assume your site usually has 100 people visit it in a day and instead it has 1,000 in an hour. It is possible that your site will have issues responding to everyone’s request to view your site. Since Go Daddy mirrors your site across multiple servers they can also load balance the traffic and essentially send only a portion of that traffic to each server. This decreases the likelihood that the site will be more responsive for everyone.

Cloud Servers
godaddy cloud serversGoDaddy calls their cloud server product the Virtual Data Center. That is a great name. A data center is a grouping of hundreds or thousands of computers. That is where you go when you need to scale your website or web services, at least you did prior to could servers. Now GoDaddy cloud servers allow you to have the benefits of instant scalability. You can add or remove servers at any time. You can utilize the much talked about cloud technology at a very affordable price, particularly if you use one of our GoDaddy hosting coupons.

When it comes to getting started be sure to use a godaddy hosting coupon for up to 20% off.

GoDaddy Founder Bob Parsons on Forbes Billionaire List

The Forbes 400 Billionaire list came out on October 10, 2011. Bob Parsons, the founder and CEO of GoDaddy, was on this list. According to Forbes he is a reluctant billionaire. While it is common to see those in the online space such as venture capitalists, it is also nice to see online entrepreneurs such as Sean Parker on the cover, Reid Hoffman, Bob Parsons and others). Bob is interesting as his company has been around for much longer than most online companies. The company was originally founded in 1997 under another name and renamed GoDaddy in 1999. He made the list for the first time this year after the deal to sell GoDaddy to KKR, Silver Lake and Technology Crossover Ventures.

bob parsonsIt is always interesting to read books and follow interviews of successful people to hear their advice. Bob has a site BobParsons.me where he regularly posts videos of business tips and has his list of Bob’s 16 rules. A prior post discusses more about the tips from Bob. I recommend you take a look at that site, he is well over 40 videos and between the videos and his tips I find it very useful.
