Wrote about the Monitoring Social Media 09 – London – November 17, 2009 a few days ago and I’m happy to say that I’m going to attend this conference in London, several weeks from now. I’m not sure, at this point, if I’ll be speaking at Monitoring Social Media 09 , or not, though it’s my wish to speak about harnessing Social Media for Public Relations and developing a consistent measurement framework in order to do that (no easy task). I’ll try to plan on spending at least the better part of a week in London, since I’ve never been to the UK .

Back in August we told you of the premature introduction of Facebook Lite . Many people speculated about what this could mean for the social media world and Facebook tried to calm everyone’s nerves by deflecting all the fuss and launching the beta version just a few days later. Well, now it’s official. Facebook Lite is here (for real, honest). Over at Inside Facebook we learn that Facebook has just launched a new version of the site, called Lite, to give users a simplified, faster-loading experience than the traditional www.facebook.com.

Aaron has his 1st tooth! A tooth at 3.5 months?! SERIOUSLY? I’m torn between being totally proud and putting my head down on my desk and crying that it is going by TOO FAST, DAMMIT. This whole baby thing is the best gig in the world, people. For reals. P.S. Speaking of teeth, it’s been QUITE the tooth adventure around the Looney Tunes household this week. I broke my tooth in half. One minute I am innocently eating a handful of Quaker Oatmeal Squares like a mindless bovine and the next I am hitting the ceiling in rabid, searing tooth pain.

GigaOm’s Mobilize 2009 Conference was the site of a major product announcement as Dr. Sanjay Jha, the chief executive officer of Motorola’s Mobile Devices business unit, took the opportunity to show off Motoblur, on a smartphone running the Android operating system. On stage, Dr. Jha referred to the device as “Motoblur”, but a check of the company Web site and marketing material from T-Mobile indicates that Motorola’s device carries the CLIQ(TM) brand and Motoblur is a suite of widgets that are organized to present contacts, calendar items, friends, Tweets, Facebook entries and the like on a touch screen.

If you are in whichever of these situations you might want to look into some of the music download websites that are on the Internet. Here are a few items that you need to see about the numerous sites accessible online. One of the foremost things you might detect as you are checking out the many services is that some demand you to pay for the songs you are downloading and others proffer free of charge tunes.

A recent eMarketer article using data from a study conducted by Russell Herder and Ethos Business Law revealed that many executives have come to value the social media channel highly for strengthening relationships with customers and increasing brand awareness. Although, they do express some areas of concern related to the social channel (I’ll speculate that comes from the sense less control, no?)In the July 2009 survey, eight in 10 management, marketing and HR executives responding to the survey cited relationships and brand-building as main benefits of social media.

Browsing web-based stores could be extremely awkward, thanks to bitty drop-down menus and inadvertent “quick views” of garments that you can’t seem to click out of. No longer, my fellow clotheshorses. Today, Ralph Lauren launched a unique iPhone application integrating social media with fashion design and online shopping, called Make Your Own Rugby [ iTunes link ].

Twitter, being one of the larger real time communication platforms that can pass message at the speed of thought, laid victim to a terrible hoax today. Apparently a Tweeted message was sent alerting tweeps that a 3 year Girl was taken in Stockton, Ca. The message also stated that an Amber Alert was in effect to assist in her safe return. While fellow tweeps quickly spread the message in good faith, it was unfortunate that this was a ruse.
