Despite my efforts to say it’s just the term “social media” that I think has a short shelf-life (and not all of those services, features and approaches that fall under the umbrella term) some people not familiar with me or this blog still didn’t understand my post the other day. I can understand why those who use the term in book titles or business cards may have a vested interest in promoting a catch-phrase, but I can’t understand why those who believe so deeply in “social media” can actually think what’s going on here can be contained to their world — and to their understanding of what all this is.

Don’t neglect it for lesser tools.” This is an important thing to keep in mind when marketing your business online. There are tons of ways to build a web presence, including a variety of social media and networking sites, but nothing is as important as your blog .

BlizzCon attracted 26,000 customers to its fourth annual event.

Speaking about Ray Kurzweil and his Singularity University (mentioned in the video embedded in my previous post ): I just read a post about that new institute on Silicon.com . Students get assignments to develop an initiative to impact the lives of a billion people over 10 years – and it seems they do rather well, for instance in developing new ideas for car-sharing. The university works with small groups of students and getting in is not easy: this summer’s inaugural Singularity University class of 40 students was chosen from among more than 1,200 applicants from around the world.

Who needs a blog to blog? Not this guy. He screwed some dry erase boards on the back of his trailer (hence, “trogging”). I’ve seen him driving around Tallahassee, and yesterday, I was lucky enough to catch sight of his vehicle — parked. So what? Who cares about this guy’s “trog”? Well, I see it as [...]

I’ve been struggling with the concept of twitter for months. i mean I get the point of it it’s just that it’s been hard to believe that it could really be of much use. I swore I wouldn’t be one of those people printing articles about the wonders of it. But, slowly I have become a believer, seeing with my own eyes the power of this amazing new marketing tool. Sheila Link Building via Twitter Twitter is the current hot potato in the social media game at this moment in time.
