My company, GasPedal , recently hosted BlogWell: How Big Brands Use Social Media, in San Francisco. The fantastic event featured eight case studies on corporate social media from some of the world’s biggest companies. As we gear up for our next BlogWell in Minneapolis on Aug. 13 — featuring case studies from McDonald’s, H&R Block, Wal-Mart, CME Group, General Mills, Ford, and Progressive — I’m sharing some key lessons from San Francisco.

Products, business and/or services are often the topic of many forums. People like to openly discuss the pros and cons of business and services. Because of this there are countless forums created which are connected to URL and/or have their own URL which are found via the major search engines. For many new business having the ability to have a forum created directly to the business website can be costly therefore there are many services available that will create a separate forum with its own URL for free.

With Online Video (OV) one of the fastest growing segments on the Internet, does it surprise you that the vast majority of articles written about online video purely focus on ad insertion? For several weeks I’ve argued that social media is a critical tool for making organizations proactive. However, he haven’t talked about HOW to implement social media into your organization. Try to remember the following: When a business uses social media the ultimate goal is to create a honest relationship with customers. Social media should: 1. State your company’s objective, purpose, mission. 2. Communicate your company’s corporate culture. 3. Maintain long term connections with clients and other businesses.

If you haven’t checked out the Messy Canvas Etsy store yet, why don’t you wander by? We have some cute birdy brooches for sale now. I wanted to make something similar to the social media pins , but minus the logos like Facebook and Twitter that had the potential to get me in trouble. For some inspiration, I gave my kids a 2.25? x 2.25? piece of paper with rounded corners. They used this as a pattern and drew rounded squares on a piece of paper. Then I asked them to to draw something in the squares.
