I have heard that .ORG domain registrations are restricted to non-commercial entities. That is not true. Anyone can register a .ORG domain. It is derived from the word organization (there is my first obvious fact of this post – you are welcome) There was an original set of domains established which included: .org .net .com .edu .gov .mil.
